TVC Announces the Winners of the First Annual "John K. Lopez National Achievement Award"

The Veterans Corporation, in partnership with Military.com and the Veterans Business Journal, is pleased to create and award to John K. Lopez the “John K. Lopez National Achievement Award”.  In honor of Mr. Lopez, TVC also recognizes two leaders in the Senate for their Veteran service and continued dedication to all Veterans:  Senator Daniel K. Inouye and Senator Daniel K. Akaka of Hawaii. This award is part Entrepreneurship Week 2007, which is sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Inc.com, and The New York Times.

John K. Lopez is a Service Disabled Veteran who served during the Korean conflict as a member of the United States Marine Corps.  He then spent his life in the field of health services management and economic development in the application of advanced health care systems, instrumentation, and biotechnology.  John is an acknowledged pioneer in entrepreneurial development, telecommunications for health care delivery, and the application of advanced technology to professional medical and health care systems.  In addition, he has served in various state office capacities in his home state of California.  Since 1985 he has served as Chairman of the Association for Service Disabled Veterans (ASDV) which has initiated eight business development legislative acts in the California Legislature and ten in the U.S. Congress.  All of these initiatives are now public laws.  John’s leadership in Veteran issues is without peer.

Senator Inouye served in the Army 1943 – 1947 and is the recipient of our nation’s highest award, the Medal of Honor.  Senator Akaka served with the Army Corps of Engineers 1945 – 1947.  TVC is most proud to acknowledge their continued commitment to Veterans with this award.
